Mango garden is located next to rumah terbalik.
Nice place with good service.
Basically I ordered most of the chef recommended food. Even though I am alone. Wanted to try a few of their dishes like Manuk Tinapah, grilled chicken but sadly ran out of stocks
Hinava Sada( RM 7.50)
Started with a dish call Hinava Sada, a very popular dish originated from the Kadazan Dusun Tribes. Hinava Sada is made of freshly raw fish fillet marinated in lime , shallots , ginger, sliced chilli and Badu( wild mango seeds). This is a must order dish. It's really appetizing, the fish were very fresh. Sourish with a tingling spiciness
Tahau Miampai Daging Salai( RM 10.50)
Tahau Miampai Daging Salai, grilled sliced beef marinated with Tahau( local ginger stem pickles), chili, lime lemongrass and herbs. The pickles was eaten together with the meat, I find that the meat was very tough. Flavor wise is not bad, the pickles did help alot in making the whole dish better.
Spying Bakar Masak Sambal Tomato( RM 12.50)
Barbecue marinated squire topped with sweet and spicy tomato Sambal and onion. Another favorite dish of Bajau Ubiqn tribes. I find it so so only , the squid was over barbecue till it become very gamy. Taste wise nothing shout about.
Kok Daeng Masak Timbul ( RM 10.50)1
Last but not least Kok Daeng Masak Timbul. Fresh fish head cooked in refreshing fish broth with tamarind, lemon grass, onion and local herbs. Another famous soup dish of the Bajau Ubian tribe). The soup was good, very light and refreshing. Fish was very fresh and generous amount
Overall I find that most of the dish was at the sour side. If you are not a fan our sour dishes probably can stay away from the dishes I ordered. An interesting experience dishing on local Sabah food.
