Once Upon A MIlkshake @ KLCC

Once upon a milk shake, what a cute name for a milkshake stall. This is the latest addition in KLCC. It's actually a franchise from Singapore.  I purposely drive down to KLCC jus to try this out, after reading a review from Eat Drink KL.

Three sizes available mini, regular and large

The menu

Salted caramel milk shake

Looking at the menu , so tempted to order all to try out. Due to limited capacity i ended up ordering the mini salted caramel. The flavour of salted caramel wasn't strong, it taste more like vanilla milk shake. But the texture of the milkshake was good , thick and smooth and it's super filling. Next round i will definelty try out more flavours , the durian flavor look interesting.

Dessert ( Tong Sui) @ Sri Damansara

Chinese dessert (Tong Sui) is one of our favourite supper. It's not easy to get hold of a tong Sui stall that open till wee hours. Located opposite the opposite the CIMB this tong Sui stall have been serving the neighbourhood for years.

Different variety of tong Sui and snacks available. Apart from what you see from the menu, they also serve economy mihun & noodle, pretty decent stuff too.

The best of all Tong Suis from this stall would definitely be this 'FuChuk Barley' (腐竹薏米)
The fuchuk used were really good and it was boiled until all melted and not even a small tiny piece of it can be seen, very thick and smooth. One of the best around.

This is the vegetarian version of fried prawn cracker, came with special made chilli sauce. Perfect combination to go with any of the tong Sui.

Yen Wen Thai Restaurant @ Kepong

The plan of the night was actually a bowl of satisfying Ramen, when we were on our way out, we just suddenly had the craving for Thai food, after some hard thoughts, we decided to come for Yee Wen Thai again. Yee wen Thai is open by a Thai couple , infact the staff there are Thai. They serve pretty authentic Thai cuisine. It was a Sunday night, took us half an hour to get a table.

This restaurant is pretty hidden behind some trees in Kepong Bharu

Lime Steam Siakap Fish (RM38)

We've waited for an hour for the first dish to arrive because of the crowd, we've been here a couple of times and tasted quite a number of their dishes. This round we ordered the lime steam siakap. Fish was fresh and the soup of the fish worth a mention, the sourness just got us hungrier and we actually finished half a plate of rice just with the soup, sweetness and spiciness were just nice for our liking. However, they over steam the siakap fish, which made it a little imperfect.

Tom yum Kung (RM20)

The Tom yum Kung, was good, flavorsome and just the right thickness for the soup. A lot of fresh seafood in it, prawns, cuttlefish, and fish.

Fried Kangkung (RM15)

This was just normal, because too much of flour used and just the usual Thai chili sauce provided. We thought A-Wet Thai cook this better and the sauce was definitely way more superior than this.

Pandan Coconut too flush down the spiciness

Nangka Cendol with Coconut Milk

Just forget about it. Cendol was way too soft & nangka too little. Stick back to the coconut.

Overall we had a statisfying meal . a good place to visit if you crave for Thai food & remember do not order their prawn sashimi, not fresh and tasted like "you're gonna get yourself some stomach upset". The damaged this time was around RM 80.00 for two person, not cheap but justified by their serving size.

Jason's Food Hall Bakery @ Bangsar Shopping Center (BSC)

There's this  bakery in Bangsar Shopping Centre ( BSC ) that we really love ,Jason's Foodhall. Its located at the side of the supermarket near the escalator. Beside the bakery there's a mini counter where u can get a cuppa coffee and enjoy your pastries.

Jason's bakery is really one of the few good one in Klang valley. We tried most of their breads before. Particularly liked  the croissant and chocolate roll, croissant was fluffy and soft internally, cover with crispy layers of skin and smells super good. The chocolate roll was crispy on the outer layer and soft on the inside and plenty of chocolate was wrapped inside, not too sweet. Quality of chocolate was superb. Must Eat!!

The coffee served were pretty good too, they use illy coffee beans. Please skip the hot chocolate, it's really horrible.

SBread Assam Laksa @ Gardens/ Midvalley

I've visited sbread long time ago, when they started with just charcoal bread and kaya. Am back here because my sister told me that their Assam laksa was tasty. I am a big fan of Assam laksa.

Looking at the menu, they have expended their menu vastly. From bread to noodles and rice.

The Assam laksa smells incredibly good. Looking at the promising appearance, with loads of mint, shredded pineapples, onions and cucumber my expectation was set quite high. I would rate this a 3.5/5 bowl of Assam laksa.  The broth was aromatic enough, but I find it too sweet and sourish, lack of saltiness. And the broth is slightly too thick for my liking. Anyway if you looking for something appetizing and doesn't want to burn your wallet, this will do the job. Not the best but is good enough.

Bear Paw@Kota Kemuning

Burgers joint seem to be growing rapidly recently from charcoal burger now we have mantao burger.
A newly addition to Kota kemuning eatery . Bear Paw is a fast food franchise from Taichung, Taiwan. Bear paw have thtee oultets in Malaysia, Setapak , Leisure mall and here.

One can choose to order ala carte or you can choose their set meal. I think the set meal are more worth it.  From the menu you can build your own bear paw burger, according to the them.Well three types of mantao burger are available , millk, brown sugar and wheat. They recommend the wheat bread to me. After the bread is chosen, you have 3 choices of patty chicken, spicy chicken and fish, follow by variety of sauce to be add in. Sadly only one sauce can be added in every burger. He recommended the thousand Island sauce in my spicy chicken.

Here comes the burger and the drink,  kiwi Yakult series(RM14.90)
Cute burger
The burger is around my palm size. The burger had a cute bear paw print on it, too cute to be eaten.

The whole wheat burger taste nothing like whole wheat, kind of disappointed with it. The texture of the bread was OK , taste like pita bread just softer and sweeter. I ordered spicy chicken patty, not sure whether they made a mistake in my order Because the spicy fried chicken patty has zero level of spiciness. Patty tasted ok, the skin of the chicken patty was crispy and the chicken patty was juicy.
I like their Yakult kiwi drink. I think I be back for this drink only. Pricing wise i think is at the high side, my set come to RM 14.90. Overall I still prefer Mcd spicy McDeluxe over this.

Klang Roasted Duck-I-Po Restaurant (怡保脆皮鴨)

I-Po has become one of our favorite restaurant when we are craving for roast duck. It's located in Klang, If you are coming from Kesas Highway, take the exit to bukit tinggi, and you'll find Jusco Bukit Tinggi on your left, go straight further and you'll go pass a flyover, after the flyover there'll be a traffic light, turn left at the traffic light with a signboard showing Jalan Batu Unjur. It is located at the shop lots on your right before Caltex, you have to make a U-turn at the traffic light.

I-PO roast duck is different from the one in Klang Valley, eg Sunrise or Loong Foong. Their ducks are saltier and the skin is super crispy. Do take note I-Po's duck are smaller in size compare to the other roast duck hence it's cheaper.

We order half a roast duck for sharing. Once we put in the order, they will send in the duck to the kitchen and bath them with hot oil hence the crispy skin of the duck. Don't worry we barely notice the oiliness in the duck.

Plenty of roast duck spotted at the kitchen

Here come's the roast duck, it's serve with two types of sauce, sweet bean sauce and spicy bean sauce. I-Po ducks are best eaten with rice to reduce the saltiness, but it's tasty even if eaten alone(i've high tolerance to saltiness). Besides the crispy skin the meat of the roast duck is perfectly done, tender and juicy. They really did a very good job in marinating the duck. What we really like about this roast duck is the drumstick of the duck. Normally in other restaurant the drumstick meat tend to be drier, gammy and tasteless because of the thickness of meat and muscles, but not in I-Po, the drumstick here is super tender and juicy. Best duck drumstick ever.

Besides roast duck, they do serve roast pork and char siew. We skip both because it doesn't look appetizing to us. They have braised eggs, braised taufu and kiam chai as side dish too.

Price ; RM 46 for whole duck,
           RM 24 for half duck
