Restaurant Nepal @ Plaza Damas

Directly situated opposite TGIF in Plaza Damas. Nepal restaurant is just four months old serving authentic Himalayan Cuisine.

I think the interior design should be Nepalis style too. I never really been exposé to Nepalese ID before though. But this restaurant is comfy with soft Himalayan music from the background and dim lighting. Great place to have a quiet dinner.

A very simple menu indeed. There's pictures behind for their chef recommended dishes.

              Momo( RM12.00)

Started off with a dish call Momo, basically like our chinese dumpling but made with chicken meat instead. There's three types of cooking method you can choose from deep fried, pan fried to steam dumplings. The fried one scores better than the steam one, because of the thickness of the skin I personally thinks the fried one reduce the 'jelakness' of the dumpling. Our siu long bao beats momo steam dumpling .The sauce is kinda special, the lighter orangy color sauce is made of tomato and peanut butter with lots of unknown spices. The darker sauce carry a hint of spiciness and made out of chilis, tomatoes and spices too. Forget about the soup , taste like it's made out of Maggie chicken cubes.

          Chatamari( RM 12)

Chatamari, Nepalese version of pizza, which has a thin crust rice flour base and is topped with minced chicken, spring onions, tomatoes and egg. The crust was nicely made thin and crispy with lots of eggy taste. The pizza is nice at the crut but its kind of tasteless. Not too great for me though.

Khasiko Masu Bhat ( RM 17.00)

Traditional thali set with a choice of chicken or mutton, I chooses the later one. The rice set is affordable at only RM 17.00, comes with Nepalese curry lamb, curry vegetables, black bean dhal. The curry lamb was great, tender and tasty. Others side dishes never really caught my attention. The black bean dhal was something new to me, it doesn't taste like our normal dhal. This one has slight stronger bean taste.

Overall it's a great experience if you have not tasted Nepalese cuisine before. To me the Nepalese cuisine carry a strong influence of Indian cuisine, but at a milder taste.

La Cocina Spanish Restaurant@ Taipan Subang

Craving for Spanish out of sudden. And the nearest place from Kota kemuning was Subang. So we drop by La Cocina to fix the craving.

A compact and homely restaurant. Came in with a big smile and welcome from the waiters. The restaurant was filled with soft Spanish music.

Cute polka dots table cloths

We order a few  tapas and a paella for sharing. All tapas come with hot baquette. Free flow of breads here.

Fried Spanish Mahon Cheese( rm 19.90)

Pure cows milk cheese from Spain and button mushrooms deep fried and serve with garlic mayonnaise. I love this so much, the cheese taste was strong and taste good even without the mayonnaise. Some of the bigger pieces, come with a piece of mushroom wrap inbetween the cheese. Superb, we love it.

Lamb meat balls( RM 12.50)

Spanish lamb meat ball served with herb tomato sauce. The meat ball tasted not bad, texture was good. The only disappointment is the sauce. The herb tomato sauce taste more like diluted Maggie tomato sauce just slightly more sourish.

Baked Escargot( RM 16.50)

Escargot baked with garlic herb butter cream. Sauce was tasty the escargot was not bad. It will be better if the escargot were fresher.

Fried Cauliflower( RM 8.90)

This was really a bad choice. The batter was too pepperish and doesn't matched with the cauliflower

Negres Paellas( RM 70.00)

The long waited squid black ink paella. It takes around 25 minutes to cook. And beware if you wanted to order negres( squid black ink) please do call up before hand, because they don't serve it everyday, and even if they serve its on first come first serve.
The Spanish rice was cooked in squid black ink , prawns, shrimps, fish fillet, squid, mussels, clams and vegetables.
This paella was really good. The rice was perfectly cook. It's very tasty and the squid ink enchanced it taste. We love it . Just that the prawns was not that fresh. The mussels was pretty tasteless.but overall the paella was good value. The portion was just right for sharing of two.
