SBread Assam Laksa @ Gardens/ Midvalley

I've visited sbread long time ago, when they started with just charcoal bread and kaya. Am back here because my sister told me that their Assam laksa was tasty. I am a big fan of Assam laksa.

Looking at the menu, they have expended their menu vastly. From bread to noodles and rice.

The Assam laksa smells incredibly good. Looking at the promising appearance, with loads of mint, shredded pineapples, onions and cucumber my expectation was set quite high. I would rate this a 3.5/5 bowl of Assam laksa.  The broth was aromatic enough, but I find it too sweet and sourish, lack of saltiness. And the broth is slightly too thick for my liking. Anyway if you looking for something appetizing and doesn't want to burn your wallet, this will do the job. Not the best but is good enough.

Bear Paw@Kota Kemuning

Burgers joint seem to be growing rapidly recently from charcoal burger now we have mantao burger.
A newly addition to Kota kemuning eatery . Bear Paw is a fast food franchise from Taichung, Taiwan. Bear paw have thtee oultets in Malaysia, Setapak , Leisure mall and here.

One can choose to order ala carte or you can choose their set meal. I think the set meal are more worth it.  From the menu you can build your own bear paw burger, according to the them.Well three types of mantao burger are available , millk, brown sugar and wheat. They recommend the wheat bread to me. After the bread is chosen, you have 3 choices of patty chicken, spicy chicken and fish, follow by variety of sauce to be add in. Sadly only one sauce can be added in every burger. He recommended the thousand Island sauce in my spicy chicken.

Here comes the burger and the drink,  kiwi Yakult series(RM14.90)
Cute burger
The burger is around my palm size. The burger had a cute bear paw print on it, too cute to be eaten.

The whole wheat burger taste nothing like whole wheat, kind of disappointed with it. The texture of the bread was OK , taste like pita bread just softer and sweeter. I ordered spicy chicken patty, not sure whether they made a mistake in my order Because the spicy fried chicken patty has zero level of spiciness. Patty tasted ok, the skin of the chicken patty was crispy and the chicken patty was juicy.
I like their Yakult kiwi drink. I think I be back for this drink only. Pricing wise i think is at the high side, my set come to RM 14.90. Overall I still prefer Mcd spicy McDeluxe over this.

Klang Roasted Duck-I-Po Restaurant (怡保脆皮鴨)

I-Po has become one of our favorite restaurant when we are craving for roast duck. It's located in Klang, If you are coming from Kesas Highway, take the exit to bukit tinggi, and you'll find Jusco Bukit Tinggi on your left, go straight further and you'll go pass a flyover, after the flyover there'll be a traffic light, turn left at the traffic light with a signboard showing Jalan Batu Unjur. It is located at the shop lots on your right before Caltex, you have to make a U-turn at the traffic light.

I-PO roast duck is different from the one in Klang Valley, eg Sunrise or Loong Foong. Their ducks are saltier and the skin is super crispy. Do take note I-Po's duck are smaller in size compare to the other roast duck hence it's cheaper.

We order half a roast duck for sharing. Once we put in the order, they will send in the duck to the kitchen and bath them with hot oil hence the crispy skin of the duck. Don't worry we barely notice the oiliness in the duck.

Plenty of roast duck spotted at the kitchen

Here come's the roast duck, it's serve with two types of sauce, sweet bean sauce and spicy bean sauce. I-Po ducks are best eaten with rice to reduce the saltiness, but it's tasty even if eaten alone(i've high tolerance to saltiness). Besides the crispy skin the meat of the roast duck is perfectly done, tender and juicy. They really did a very good job in marinating the duck. What we really like about this roast duck is the drumstick of the duck. Normally in other restaurant the drumstick meat tend to be drier, gammy and tasteless because of the thickness of meat and muscles, but not in I-Po, the drumstick here is super tender and juicy. Best duck drumstick ever.

Besides roast duck, they do serve roast pork and char siew. We skip both because it doesn't look appetizing to us. They have braised eggs, braised taufu and kiam chai as side dish too.

Price ; RM 46 for whole duck,
           RM 24 for half duck

Yo Yo Ping - Kota Kemuning

We purchased yo yo ping voucher from living social earlier, it's a bargain RM 10 cash voucher at RM 5 only.
Later only we realise we are only allow to use the cash voucher for main dishes and yo yo ping. Vouchers doesn't include beverages and fried chickens.

Both of us order chicken nasi lemak, cause this the only main that contains fried chicken.

Well the nasi lemak was just ok only. We don't find it appetizing. The sambal was too sweet, zero level of spiciness. The rice was too wet and I think it taste like kuih muih, abit jelak after a few spoonful.

The fried chicken is the star for today meal. Their fried chicken was not bad, skin was a little over-fried so it felt dry and hard, and we think that the juiciness level of the meat should have been better to live up its names.

The name of the shop probably came from this drink, it's shaved ice with different flavours. They have bobochacha, ambra, watermelon, pineapple, longan, lychee, corn, red bean, mango & sour plum. One can choose a mixture of 2 flavours in a cup. We went for ambra+sour plum, it was pretty refreshing after some heavy nasi lemak which tasted like kuih muih.

Verdict: Just stay with the fried chicken and the shaved ice.

KC TauFuFah Stall (李記豆腐花)-Klang Bukit Tinggi

We were looking for Hoo Bee's tong yuan but sadly they were not open today for business. Randomly we saw this shop opposite the restaurant, since we were there we just give it a try, KC taufufah stall.

Ordered the taufufah and tong yuen. Taufufah was normal nothing special. Just like those mini van taufufah found around klang valley.

Tong Yuan in soya bean soup

Black sesame Tong Yuan

Peanuts Tong Yuan

The tong yuen in soya bean soup was not too bad. Comes in two type of filling black sesame and peanuts. The skin of the tong yuen was just right neither thick nor too thin. Generous amount of filling in each of the tong yuen.
Price : Taufufah RM 1.80
Tong yuan RM 3.80

Address: Jalan Batu Nilam 3,

Ocean Point Restaurant (海城小吃飯店)-Kota Kemuning

Ocean Point Restaurant is one of the famous neighbourhood restaurants in Kota Kemuning behind the row of shoplots right next to McDonalds. They specialised in all kind of Chinese food ranging from rice, noodles, porridge to Bak Kut Teh. There are a few popular dishes here, bullfrog porridge, fish head noodle, hokkien mee, homemade fishball & curry fish head.

But as for this round, we preferred to have something soupy. Yes, it's my top favourite dish of this shop - Fish Head Noodle.

Soup boiled with preserved vegetables, tomato & yam are more commonly used in most of the fish head noodles. This fish head noodle uses chinese cabbage & yam as the based of the broth, gives you a totally kind of fish head noodle comparison to the others.

The highlight of this dish is actually the excellent broth, chinese cabbage and yam flavour are intense. According to the boss,  they will first pre blend the yam to form powder and then the yam powder will be added into the broth during preparation.

This claypot fish head noodles consist of garoupa fish, tomatoes, enoki mushroom, Chinese cabbage yam and lots of ginger. The yam used was powdery and melts in your mouth.

The bihun used here is different from the normal bihun found outside, it's springier and slightly wider. They use fresh garoupa for the fish ,so it's not fishy at all !! I can still taste the freshness of the garoupa running in my mouth😃. One thing I hate about most of the fish head noodle is there are a lot of stalls that used pre-fried fish, and making the whole bowl of soup very fishy.

It costs us RM30, for 2 pax. RM15/pax may seem high for a bowl of fish head noodle, but looking at the quality & the garoupa fish, we think its worth the money.

Highly recommended.👍👍

Recipe: Truffle Oil Baked Mushroom

This is one of my favorite dish. It's easy and quick. Preparation time take around 5 minutes and 15 minutes to cook it.
My secret is this bottle of truffle oil. Just drizzle 1-2 drops of the oil onto the mushroom when it's done. It will enhanced the taste of the mushroom with hints of truffle oil scent. I purchased this bottle from Hock Choon Supermarket in Jalan Ampang at Rm 54.00. This bottle of truffle oil is like a magic potion. You can used it at all kind of dishes, aglio olio, salads  etc etc.
Here's the recipe for the baked cheesie mushroom.

Ingredients
9 button mushroom( I used Swiss brown and white mushroom )
Mozzarella cheese
Salt and pepper
Basil/ any herbs you prefer
Truffle Oil

Instructions
1.  Remove the stems from the mushroom and placed is upside down on the baking tray .

2. Chop the mozzarella and stuff it into the cap of the mushroom.

3.  Sprinkle some salt, pepper and basil on top of the mushroom.

4. Baked it around 15 minutes at 150⁰C. I am using an oven toaster to bake it.

5.  When is done just drizzle a drop or two truffle oil onto the mushroom. And we are done. Yum Yum
